Designing a beauty and skincare range was right at the top of our bucket-list so when Karen Vosloo of Skin Clays approached us to rebrand and redesign her range of products made from natural unspoiled clays, essential oils and the purest botanical extracts, we were all over it!
We did a complete 360 with the branding, positioning Skin Clays as an exotic African luxury brand with purity and integrity as the key values. As the use of clay and its healing properties date back to ancient times, we wanted to show the journey connecting past and present: traditional healing methods used in the modern day.
As Skin Clays has such an extensive range of products, the challenge was to design packaging for the different substrates and sizes. We used colour to differentiate the four different clays, and illustration to differentiate the three ranges: Skin Care, Bath & Body and Lifestyle & Gifts. Another crucial factor we had to consider was user experience on their online shop. We solved this problem by creating two options for the shopper to browse: Shop by Clay or Shop by Range.
We loved working with Karen and seeing the Skin Clays brand transform – it was a long journey but well worth it! It didn’t hurt that we got to sample their amazing products along the way:)
